Vaccinations are so integral to modern life that it seems indecent to even question them. Despite an excessive vaccination schedule, only three vaccinations are mandatory, but many of us are swayed by social and media pressure. There is very little room left for objective information. Recent years have seen several high-profile scandals: contaminated blood, mad cow disease, and growth hormone.
Vaccinations are so integral to modern life that it seems indecent to even question them. Despite an excessive vaccination schedule, only three vaccinations are mandatory, but many of us succumb to social and media pressure. There is very little room left for objective information. Recent years have seen several resounding scandals: contaminated blood, mad cow disease, growth hormone, Mediator… all the catastrophes that we long chose to ignore. Each time, we promise, we swear, it will never happen again. Yet, there will soon be another vaccine scandal if we continue to submit to the dictates of the pharmaceutical industry, if health authorities persist in ignoring the victims and refusing to implement a truly effective vaccine safety system. Public health has gradually improved with advances in hygiene and rising living standards. The major role attributed to vaccinations in the decline of infectious diseases is entirely debatable. Furthermore, vaccines have caused a host of suffering due to their sometimes serious side effects. The benefit-risk ratio seems very slim. Finally, these vaccination campaigns have a cost for society, and the cost-benefit ratio is far from what was expected. This well-documented book openly reignites the debate.
