About the Book

The history of the psychology school at Laval University is told by two psychology professors trained in different scientific fields and involved in administrative activities, including the management of graduate programs in psychology, at different times.

The first, Dr. Jean-Yves Lortie, a retired full professor since 1994, trained in experimental psychology, is the author of the first part of this book, which notably answers the following questions:

-How was the School of Psychology founded in 1961?
-How did it evolve up to the year 2000?
-What were his main setbacks and victories during this period?

The second, Dr. Janel Gauthier, a tenured professor trained in clinical health psychology, is the author of the second part, which examines, among other things, the following aspects:

-What led the School to create a doctoral program leading to the degree of Doctor of Psychology (D.Psy.) in the early 2000s?
-What led her to combine her master's and doctoral programs in psychology into unique postgraduate programs?
-What challenges does the School face at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in order to continue improving the quality of its psychology training programs?

The information presented in this book and the questions raised within it offer a rare glimpse into psychology and the academic environment in Quebec.
