Bottle is a short game where you play as a lonely man. As you walk along a path, you see visions of a woman and read the notes she leaves for you. But sometimes, you need to take action and figure out how to reach her. You can also explore if you prefer. There are certain things to discover far from the path. As you progress, you hear pleasant piano melodies, as well as the sound of a gentle wind. You also hear the sounds of rustling bushes and some animals. These elements contribute to the game's atmospheric quality. The game is sometimes melancholic, sometimes mystical, sometimes funny, sometimes spooky, but mostly relaxing. After completing the game, another mode called "Noir" is unlocked. In this mode, you generally play the same game, but with a dark, atmospheric black background and a white filter, and it's nighttime. There are also some surprising differences in Noir mode.
