Red Hat Enterprise Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux (often abbreviated RHEL) is a Linux distribution produced by Red Hat and geared towards the commercial market and enterprise servers. Red Hat supports each version of the software for 7 to 10 years (since RHEL 5), and even up to 13 years after its release. All official support, training, and certifications from Red Hat—RHCT, RHCE, RHCSS, and RHCA—for hardware and software deployment are based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform.
New versions of RHEL are released every 18 to 24 months. When Red Hat provides a new version of RHEL, customers can upgrade for free provided they have a current subscription.
However, trademark restrictions do not allow copying and redistribution of the complete distribution.
