The Windows PE 3.1 environment is a minimalist distribution of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system with Service Pack 1.
This portable distribution allows you to run Windows 7 from a CD/DVD or USB drive independently, with video, audio, and network support. Numerous additional chipset, network, SATA, and USB drivers have been included to ensure maximum compatibility with modern computers. However, due to capacity limitations, some audio and video drivers have not been included.
Among other utilities, you'll find Internet Explorer 8, DirectX 11, and the system repair tool. The Opera 12 browser, which includes Flash Player and the essential Adblock Plus ad blocker, is available for improved internet access. The integration of .NET runtimes 1.0 to 3.5 and Visual C++ 8.0 to 11.0 allows you to run a wide range of portable applications.
It is possible to read and write securely to all volumes used by currently known Microsoft systems. FAT and NTFS v3.1 compatibility is guaranteed for all versions up to Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.
This tool is ideal for recovering data from a failed system without having to disassemble the hardware. When the data volume is substantial, it allows you to move the data to a backup folder and then delete the system folders and files. This procedure enables a clean reinstallation without formatting, preserving the data on the volume, which can save a significant amount of time.
The included Symantec Ghost 11.5.1 utility allows you, for example, to clone a system partition for restoration in case of an incident, or to deploy a VMDK virtual disk image created with VMware Workstation to a physical disk. This solution lets you configure and maintain standard configuration templates on your workstation that can be cloned to your clients' computers in less than 20 minutes!
With MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition 9.0, you can also resize, format, copy, create, delete, and convert your partitions to FAT/NTFS. You can even convert entire disks to MBR/GPT without data loss.
Note : on EFI/UEFI machines and depending on the BIOS settings included by default, setting the BOOT to compatibility mode may be necessary.
