PowerSoft Maker is a RAD (Rapid Application Development) programming language. Like all languages of this type, PSM offers a series of components for building the graphical interface of your program (one or more windows containing buttons, scrollbars, text areas, editing fields, images, etc.). You then simply associate one or more events with each component in the form of source code to achieve the desired result.<\/p>\n

Compared to other RAD-type languages, PSM is easy to learn because it requires minimal code entry. There's no need to memorize functions; everything is accessible with the mouse, much like in "click & play" video game creation software.<\/p>\n

PSM is therefore a simple software program, a visual assisted language, practical and quick to master even though it requires some learning. Once the learning curve is overcome, PSM is a perfect tool for carrying out small projects for programmers who are less inclined to learn.<\/p>\n

The possibilities of PSM are vast, and as with any RAD, it is the programmer's creativity that will make the difference:<\/strong>
\n\u2013 Creation of multiple windows (different window styles), including MDI
\n\u2013 Managing menus and toolbars with ToolTips
\n\u2013 Numerous ready-to-use controls (Button, Combo, List, Tree\u2026)
\n\u2013 Numerous objects (File, Disk, Sound, SoundMp3\u2026)
\n\u2013 Management of your own functions (local variables allowed)<\/p>\n

It is possible to program your own extensions in C++ using the SDK. PSM allows you to easily create executable files for Windows, with the option to create an installer. Each generated executable is self-contained and requires no external files.<\/p>\n

The author, Sylvain Seccia, graciously agreed to let me distribute the program and my own Pro license since its development has been discontinued. The Seccia software was intended to replace PSM. Although more powerful, it lost some of PSM's core principles: maximum clicks, minimum data entry. However, the author has not abandoned the idea of rewriting PSM for a more comprehensive version.<\/p>\n
