Counter-Strike is the most popular online game in the world, and its success hasn't waned over the years. You'll absolutely need to own Half-Life to play it, as it's a mod for the Valve-created game, now available in all stores for just under €15.
The idea is to join a team, either terrorist or counter-terrorist, and complete various missions. If you're a terrorist, you might have to plant a bomb in a specific location and detonate it. If you're a counter-terrorist, you might have to evacuate a VIP or defuse a bomb. The rest is a matter of coordination with other players and personal skill.
Counter-Strike boasts a unique atmosphere and extremely realistic, remarkably precise gameplay. While the game shows its age and no longer compares favorably to other titles, it remains a true benchmark and continues to receive regular updates with new maps.
Version 1.6 is bundled with Steam, which will now be required for Counter-Strike updates.
